Though Naira Marley might be having the time of his life right now, shutting down shows and delivering jams, the Economic Financial & Crimes Commission (EFCC) haven’t forgotten Naira Marley’s case with them.
Five months ago, Naira Marley was arrested for an 11-count charge in relation to credit card fraud. The alleged crimes were in contravention of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act and the Cyber Crimes Act. These acts are punishable by going to jail for seven years if found guilty. After spending close to a month at the Ikoyi Prison, he was granted bail by Ikoyi High court. However, the saga of his trials resume in a month’s time as he is going back to court to answer to all charges leveled against him.
Finally, if found guilty, Naira Marley might go to jail for seven years. Our hopes and prayers are with Naira Marley during these trying times.
