Wizkid recounts Hard start To Life After Departing formal Label

Wizkid is hardly one to share personal details about himself anywhere. But the CEO of Starboy entertainment revealed some shocking information about the nature of his departure from formal label EME back in 2014. The news about his old label came up in an interview with Robert Bruce of Capital XTRA.

In the video below, between 5:40 – 5:60, Wizkid revealed why he left his old boss, Banky W. According to wizkid it was in a quest to become an independent artist. But at the time, he had to leave with “zero naira”. He shared that he literally had to start from scratch in terms of funds upon the completion of his last contractual album under EME.

‘We are still family. We would still continue doing business together, and are all like my big brothers. It’s a family thing, so we’ll definitely keep doing business.’ This was what Wizkid had to say back in 2014 after the end of his partnership with Banky W. And the superstar still maintains the narrative in this new interview. Stating that he is forever grateful for all that Banky W and EME did for him and it’s all love between them forever.
