EX-ASUU Chairman – Lecturers Need To Be Protected. The ex-ASUU chairman “Dr. Laja Odukoya” says the sexual harassment bill that was passed recently is unfair and discriminatory to educators.

The bill, titled “A Bill for an Act to prevent, prohibit and redress sexual harassment of students in tertiary educational institutions and for matters concerned therewith, 2019”, was passed after third reading during plenary on July 7, 2020.

According to Mr. Odukoya during an interview on Channels TV “ASUU is against any form of sexual offense. And usually educates its members to not compromise their roles as educators”. He goes on to say There’s no doubt that girls and the womenfolk are much more vulnerable in our society. But that equally will not be sufficient to make laws that will only look out for their interest”.

He adds “Boys and men are equally sexually harassed in different set-ups in the society”.
