Chelsea supporters have spotted what Kai Havertz did in the latter stages of his side’s victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday evening.
The Blues are through to their first Champions League final after the 3-1 aggregate victory over the La Liga giants.
Thomas Tuchel’s side won 2-0 on the night thanks to goals from Timo Werner and Mason Mount at Stamford Bridge.
Havertz played a huge part in Chelsea’s first goal after having the ball fed through to him by N’Golo Kante, and then the Germany international chipped it over Thibaut Courtois onto the crossbar, with Werner heading in the rebound.
Tuchel surprised many supporters by including Havertz in the starting line-up over Christian Pulisic after the American starred in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw last week.
However, the Blues boss was proved right by starting his fellow countryman in the second leg.
Havertz’s performances deservedly received plenty of plaudits, but Chelsea supporters spotted something else he did in the match that may have gone a bit under the radar.
In the final few minutes of the tie, the hosts committed a foul and Havertz looked as if he was going to pick the ball up, before kicking it away with his right foot as he was bending down.
And this went down well with Chelsea fans, as can be seen below.
Sergio Ramos and Toni Kroos were understandably in a rush to retrieve the ball, with Real Madrid needing to score two goals at Stamford Bridge, but it was kicked past them both to waste a bit more time.
Los Blancos were surprisingly poor in west London against Chelsea, but nothing can be taken away from the hosts’ performance on the night – and they have now been rewarded with a chance of winning Europe’s most prestigious trophy in Istanbul later this month.
Chelsea will face Premier League rivals Manchester City in the showpiece final.
