Bernd Leno has insisted he is still happy at Arsenal despite reports he could leave this summer.

The German goalkeeper has impressed in north London, so much so that Mikel Arteta backed him and sold Emiliano Martinez last summer despite the Argentine impressing last season.

But football.london understands Leno is open to leaving Arsenal this summer with the club willing to sell him for the right price. It comes with a number of young prospects in the wings, including Arthur Okonkwo, who is set for a new deal amid interest from a number of top clubs around Europe.

The Gunners are also looking at signing loan keeper Mat Ryan on a permanent deal with Alex Runarsson likely to leave on a loan deal ahead of next season.

Leno is currently the Gunners’ number one, so it’s not clear who would replace him, but it’s understood Arsenal are open to selling him, even if the player himself does not seem keen to depart.

“I am still happy at Arsenal. Arsenal is still a big club, a big name in the world and in the Premier League,” Leno told Sky Sports.

“There is nobody in the dressing room who says ‘I want to leave the club, I am not happy here anymore’.

“We still have a good environment at the club and in the dressing room. Of course, at times it was not easy this season, but this is part of football.

“It’s not good to feel sorry for ourselves, we need to move forward and change it to a positive as soon as possible.”

Arsenal may just shift a number of players who don’t necessarily want to leave this summer with Mikel Arteta clearly needing to improve his squad on the back of a disappointing campaign which will see the Gunners miss out on European football for the first time in 25 years.

Leno could be part of that list of outgoings, currently valued at £22.5million by Transfermarkt with his contract due to run until 2023.
