Former Chelsea defender, Wayne Bridge, has named Mason Mount and Thiago Silva as the two standout Blues players this season.
Bridge said this ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Arsenal on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea has been impressive since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard last January.
The west London club is currently in the third position on the Premier League table and they also have FA Cup and Champions League finals to play against Leicester City and Manchester City, respectively, later this month.
But Bridge has been very impressed with Tuchel since he took charge at Chelsea but praises Mount and Silva for their performances and overall impact for the club throughout this season.
“Mason Mount stands out massively for me. Frank Lampard spoke very highly of him,” Bridge was quoted by Football London as saying.
“He looks so comfortable on the ball and impresses me in every game he plays with the way he goes past players and is always looking for the ball and a bit of space. He is always trying to create something and has always been the most consistent performer.
“I was absolutely shocked when [Thomas] Tuchel first came in, and Mount didn’t play in one of the games. He’s proved a lot of doubters wrong.
“Thiago Silva has been massive for the players around him. He is got so much experience and helps the defenders around him, like Rudiger and Christensen. He has been a great addition to the squad, and well done to Lampard for getting him in.”
