Chelsea will assess the fitness of N’Golo Kante on Wednesday following the midfielder suffering an injury against Leicester City on Tuesday evening.
Kante was replaced by Mateo Kovacic in the first-half of the crucial clash, which the Blues ended up winning 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho scored for the hosts in west London to cancel out Kelechi Iheanacho’s strike for the visiting team.
It was a potentially season-defining victory for Chelsea – who now have a top-four finish in their hands going into the final round of fixtures on Sunday afternoon.
However, there was one real concern for Thomas Tuchel, with star midfield player Kante being forced off in the first-half at the Bridge.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Tuchel issued an update on Kante, as well as his Chelsea team-mate Kai Havertz.
“I don’t know yet. We will check them tomorrow,” the Blues coach said.
“I have a good feeling with NG, he said he felt something and didn’t want to risk a muscle injury.
“So, I hope for Sunday and with Kai, the same.”
Havertz came on in Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat to Leicester and tweaked his hamstring slightly at Wembley, according to Tuchel.
Speaking before Tuesday’s win against the Foxes, the German boss said: “Kai unfortunately got injured a little bit at Wembley.
“He felt his hamstring slightly. Hopefully we will have him back in the squad for Aston Villa on Sunday, but we are not sure yet.”
Andreas Christensen could return for the Blues for the final gameweek of the season at the weekend, with the defender suffering a thigh injury recently.
Kovacic returned to the side for the win versus Leicester, though, which is a big boost for Tuchel as they get closer to their final two matches of the season.
