Marek Rodak

Showed good awareness to claim the ball in his box on a wet surface though his distribution wasn’t always confident. A solid display overall. 6.

Kenny Tete

A dutiful if not outstanding performance from the Netherlands international. Never stops working. 6.

Tosin Adarabioyo

The former Man City youngsters took his place on the right side of the central defensive pairing. Generally put in a decent performance like his partner but his foul on Matt Ritchie earned Newcastle a penalty. 5.

Tim Ream

Confident and composed performance who wasn’t frightened to come forward to meet the ball. His challenge wasn’t good enough on Joe Willock but the midfielder was fortunate to take advantage of a kind bounce. A good performance and the crowd made sure his name was heard throughout the match. 7.

Joe Bryan

Can see the full backs intention to find someone in the box and was visibly frustrated with lack of options at times during the match. 6.

Josh Onomah

Didn’t stamp his authority on the game enough despite some tidy passing into the forward line. 5.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa

Threatened to be dominant when he was on the ball but lacked an impact during his 45 minute stint. 4.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid

Struggle to find his way into the game and was limited in his contribution despite completing the 90 minutes. 4.

Ivan Cavaleiro

Often found space to put the ball onto his right foot and curl it but struggled to find the target. Shocking miss when Fabio Carvalho played him through in the second half. 5.

Ademola Lookman

Once again showed strong ability running with the ball but without the capicity for that final incisive moment. 6.

Fabio Carvalho

The youngster found some good positions and battled well in a number of situations he was outmatched physically. Found some good holes around the box but couldn’t quite measure his pass. Grew into the game and Cavaleiro should have finished the 18-year-old’s pass. 6.

Substitutes

Ruben Loftus-Cheek: The Chelsea loanee provided little threat and many supporters immediately questioned why he was afforded an opportunity over a youngster or someone else who would be at the club next season. 5.

Josh Maja: Brought a sense of urgency when he replaced Lookman but could only blaze over the bar with his best opportunity. 5.

Tyrese Francois: A display of the young midfielder’s versatility to slot in straight at left back. 5.
