Here is your Arsenal morning digest on Thursday, May 27.

Mertesacker’s ruthless plan has begun

Arsenal’s academy manager Per Mertesacker has already admitted that he will not be afraid to sell young players if the right offers come in for them.

“For the benefit of him maybe sometimes you have to lose a player for a lot of money,” he replied when asked in 2018 about potentially losing bright talents because of a lack of first-team playing time.

While not every Arsenal under-23 player’s loan spell has gone to plan this season, there are some examples of where sending youngsters out on loan for more senior experience has worked in the Gunners’ favour.

Campbell makes Bissouma claim

Former Arsenal man Kevin Campbell has claimed he’s been informed that Yves Bissouma wants to move to the Gunners this summer.

Bissouma has been linked with a switch to the Emirates before the start of next season and understands that Arsenal will be in the transfer market to sign players in at least five positions in the coming months, with a big overhaul expected to take place in north London.

Now, Campbell has delivered some transfer news that plenty of Gunners fans will be delighted to hear.

Speaking to Highbury Squad, he said: “I am hearing he wants to come to Arsenal. That’s what I am hearing.

“So, Arsenal have got to make some moves and get him. I don’t know if you saw it at the end of the game. Him and Pepe were there talking.

“And I think Pepe was just talking him through the Emirates. You go through that door at the top. You got down the side there and there’s a bar. Your family will be up in that box. My box is beside it.

“You know, something like that.”
