Tottenham locked in Mauricio Pochettino talks as 13 players secure transfer exits

Spurs eye Pochettino return

Tottenham have held talks with Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino over a sensational return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, football.london understands.

Spurs have been on the hunt for a new boss for over six weeks after sacking Jose Mourinho in mid-April. They have identified a number of potential candidates ton succeed the Portuguese chief but nothing has yet come to fruition

Now, the club are keen on trying to bring the popular Argentine back to north London, less than two years after sacking him to replace him with Mourinho.

As well as Spurs being keen to get a deal concluded, Pochettino is also open to the move as well.

It remains to be seen if Daniel Levy will be able to strike a compensation package with the French club to make a deal possible.

Retained list confirmed

Away from news concerning Pochettino and Spurs’ search for a new head coach, the club announced yesterday that 13 players are to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer upon the end of their contracts.

Danny Rose is the highlight of that list, with the left-back’s 14-year stay in north London poised to come to a close.

The former Leeds United youngster has not featured at all this season after being frozen out by Mourinho, meaning an exit this summer was guaranteed. The other headline name to be shown the exit door is goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

The Argentine made 37 first-team appearances for Spurs but headed out on loan to Spanish side Elche for the second half of the current campaign, effectively bringing his Spurs career to a close.

The remaining 11 departures were made up of members of the development squad, including George Marsh and Kazaiah Sterling.

Spurs eye German ace

Tottenham have joined London rivals Chelsea in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach winger Jonas Hofmann, according to reports.

The 28-year-old right-sided player has enjoyed a solid season in the Bundesliga, scoring six goals and racking up 11 assists.

Chelsea have been monitoring him since as far back as January, meaning they could hold the edge in the race to sign him this summer.

It is claimed that he would be available for around £15million.
