Jorginho will remain at Chelsea next season unless a “serious offer” is presented to the Blues, according to the midfielder’s agent, Joao Santos.

The Italian midfielder’s stock at Stamford Bridge has never been higher. He played a key role in helping Chelsea win the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel and then was the fulcrum of the Italy side which won the European Championship at Wembley.

Such has been Jorginho’s influence on those two successes, there has even been talk as to whether the 29-year-old could win this year’s Ballon d’Or.

“We live for dreams and I will be quite honest, [the Ballon d’Or] hinges on what criteria they use,” he told SporTV via ESPN Brasil this week.

“If it is down to skill, I am not the best player in the world. But if it is down to who won more trophies, there is no one who won more titles than me [this year].

“It depends on the criteria, best player or who won more titles? How do you compare to Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar? Honestly, those are different characteristics, but it comes along with the criteria.”

Jorginho’s long-term future remains the subject of speculation. He has two years left on his contract at Chelsea and talks to extend that have not yet been held.

However, Santos insists the Italian international is keen to remain at Stamford Bridge unless there is a big-money offer made for his serfices.

“He has a two-year contract,” Joao Santos told Calciomercato.it. “And it’s all in the hands of the club.

“There the Club World Cup, there’s the European Super Cup. For a footballer, these are important targets.

“But the transfer market is always the transfer market and if a major club comes forward with a serious offer to Chelsea, then we will evaluate. At the moment, Jorginho will play at Chelsea next season.”

He continued: “I can confirm interests have arrived. Of course, at 29, he can do very well in all the top European clubs, and many are interested in him.”
