Chelsea are close to making an announcement regarding the sale of Marc Guehi to Crystal Palace.
As first reported by The Athletic earlier in the week, the Blues accepted a significant offer from the Eagles for the England Under-21 international who will link up with Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira at Selhurst Park.
Furthermore, football.london understands that Chelsea have agreed a sell-on fee with Palace and have the first refusal on any future move for Guehi, who was expected to be in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the new season.
However, the deal does not contain a buyback option for the academy graduate.
Guehi is coming off an 18-month loan spell at Swansea City, during which he established himself as one of the finest young central defenders playing outside of the Premier League.
But with the likes of Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger ahead of him in the pecking order at Chelsea, the 21-year-old has opted for a change of scenery.
And it would appear that an announcement regarding his move to Palace will happen very soon.
As spotted and uploaded to Twitter by @PalaceHQ_ an image of Guehi holding the Crystal Palace away shirt alongside Vieira has been leaked.
Although, this would all but confirm that a deal is done and all that remains is for both clubs to make an official announcement.
As a result of the imminent sale, the Blues are about to receive a much-needed cash injection which could be very useful in their reported pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
The fee taking Guehi to Palace is said to be in the region of £20million, meaning Chelsea will have raised £51.5m after also selling Fikayo Tomori, Victor Moses and Olivier Giroud for a combined total of £31.5m.
But with Dortmund reportedly willing to do business for Haaland this summer if they receive an offer of £150m between now and deadline day, Chelsea are doing their best to raise funds in order to bolster their options in attack.
And that’s where selling Guehi to Palace for around £20m could come in handy.
