Arsenal target Sergiño Dest has made a decision regarding his future claiming that he intends to stay at Barcelona despite the club’s financial woes, report Catalan Radio station RAC 1 via SPORT.

The United States of America international was an emerging target of the Gunners’ as Mikel Arteta began to plan for life at the Emirates without Hector Bellerin following the long-serving defender’s transfer request.

However, Barca right-back Dest will not be the one coming in to replace him.

Speaking to RAC 1, Dest was very clear that he wanted to stay at the Blaugrana club despite the club signing Brazilian right-back Emerson from Real Betis this summer for £9million, adding to the already healthy competition in Barcelona mainstay Sergi Roberto.

Dest said: “I want to continue at Barça.”

Although Dest’s admission to remain in Spain has been made clear, Barcelona’s financial situation means that the door has been left open for any further requests regarding the defender’s services.

With a glimpse of hope shimmering at the end of the tunnel, Edu can continue to pursue the American as Barcelona may be forced to offload Dest.

The registered interest in a new right-back and Bellerin’s transfer request follows several factors at London Colney.

Arteta has been unimpressed by the Spanish right-back, despite the Arsenal boss prizing Bellerin with captaincy, in addition to the growing interest from Inter Milan, report CalcioMercato via the Express.

Bellerin, who has been at the Gunners since 2011, featured 35 times last season in a disappointing campaign that ended with the Gunners finishing eighth in the Premier League.
