Tottenham Hotspur are keen to add Dusan Vlahovic to their attack, according to reports in Italy.
The Fiorentina striker netted 21 goals in 40 appearances last season and Spurs’ director of football, Fabio Paratici, wants the Serbian to be his first big money signing at Tottenham.
It was previously suggested that Spurs were at the front of the queue for the young ace but the striker was also attracting interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, including the likes of Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Juventus.
Now it is claimed that the striker has no intention of renewing his contract with the club amid serious interest from Spurs.
That is according to Gazetta dello Sport’s Carlo Laudisa, via The Spurs Web, who believes that Fiorentina will accept an offer of around €60million (£51.4million) for his signature, which could be a figure worth paying if Harry Kane departs for pastures new.
“It’s understandable that Tottenham, with Kane in the sights of Manchester City, look around: Fiorentina have said no for now, but the €60m value can be dangerous,” said Laudisa.
“If the English club were to collect more than €120m for Kane, they would have no problem offering €60m for Vlahovic. His contract? For months, I have received a very specific signal that cannot be ignored: for now, there is no intention of renewing.”
However, the Italian club are still confident that Vlahovic will choose to sign a new contract, as the club’s director, Joe Barone, told Sky Italy earlier this week.
“Dusan Vlahovic is our player until June 2023 and we’re working to extend his contract as soon as possible.”
There’s still a long way to go with this transfer, but because Vlahovic is going to cost a fair amount of money, you can’t help but wonder whether he will arrive as Kane’s replacement rather than his teammate if a deal does go through.
