Here is your Arsenal morning digest on Monday, July 19.

Gunners’ Grealish stance revealed

Arsenal “admire” Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, but a move to the Emirates Stadium is very unlikely this summer.

That’s according to The Athletic, who say that Grealish ‘s only realistic destination is Manchester City at the time of writing.

City are willing to spend £100million to land the England international, with Pep Guardiola believed to be a massive fan of the talented playmaker.

Grealish shone for England at the recently concluded Euro 2020 and has been tipped to end his stay with boyhood club Aston Villa.

Ayling’s White verdict backs Arsenal thinking

Much has been said about Arsenal splashing out £50m to sign Ben White from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.

football.london understands that the Gunners have agreed a deal to sign White from the Seagulls after meeting their asking price with their third offer.

The England defender is very comfortable on the ball and will seemingly fit into Mikel Arteta’s style of play at the north London club, something Leeds United star Luke Ayling more or less explained to the Sky Sports cameras recently.

“He’s top, top quality. His mental strength to come in here as a lad who nobody knew about. If you asked the lads, I don’t think anyone really knew who Ben White was,” Ayling said on White, who spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Elland Road.

“To come in here and step into Pontus’ (Jansson’s) shoes, they were quite big shoes, he was brilliant for us.

“For him to come in and step into those shoes and hit the ground running. I was injured for the first game against Bristol City, so I was watching it on TV and he was just Cruyffing (Johan Cruyff skill) centre forwards, he was so relaxed.”

Mills questions White decision

Danny Mills is “surprised” the aforementioned White is willing to join Arsenal and not move somewhere else.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool were also linked with the Brighton defender, but he looks set to join the Gunners in the coming weeks, something that surprises Mills.

“The only thing I am surprised at is Ben White has gone to Arsenal. Let’s assume that he will be at Arsenal for two or three years at least before he goes somewhere else. I just think he is better than that,” Mills said on talkSPORT.

When asked why White would go somewhere else, Mills said : “Because he has got better chance of winning things. What is he going to win at Arsenal? League Cup, if he is lucky. Maybe the FA Cup.”
