Bryan Gil’s FIFA 21 rating as Tottenham confirm signing of promising midfielder

Tottenham have today confirmed their second signing of the summer transfer window, with Sevilla midfielder Bryan Gil joining ahead of the new campaign.

As part of the deal bringing Gil to north London, Erik Lamela has gone in the opposite direction to join Sevilla, following eight seasons at the club. The 20-year-old Spaniard spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Spanish outfit Eibar, making 28 league appearances and scoring four goals, but he couldn’t stop their relegation to La Liga 2.

Spurs announced their first summer signing on Saturday, with goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini joining the club from Serie A side Atalanta on a season-long loan, with an option to make the transfer permanent next summer.

Overall rating: 72/100

Overall Potential: 82/100

Positions: LM/RM/CAM

Weak Foot: Three-Star

Skill Moves: Three-Star

According to his FIFA 21 profile, Spurs have signed a promising player with the potential to rival the likes of Lucas Moura, Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso for a starting spot in the team.

Gil’s current overall rating of 72 out of 100 means he may not be a star player for Spurs straight away, yet with a potential overall rating of 82 out of 100, he could match Gareth Bale’s overall rating at 82 should the young Spaniard develop well.

Gil’s in-game statistics highlight the type of player that Spurs would be signing, with the 20-year-old excelling in his agility (84), balance (80), dribbling (79) and ball control (77).

To put these stats in context, Gil’s agility rating is higher than both Alli’s (82) and Lo Celso’s (83) as well as having the exact same balance stat (80) as the Argentinian too.

Gil not only holds his own against some of the top players at Spurs in terms of dribbling but also in pace.

The Spaniard possesses a good amount of pace with 79 out of 100 acceleration and 76 out of 100 sprint speed, which for a 20-year-old gives him the potential to improve these stats as he develops.

These stats show the capability of the youngster with the ball at his feet, and with a composure stat of 75 out of 100, it shows despite being a young player, he can produce quality when needed.

Gil’s best position is on the left-wing according to FIFA 21, with the Sevilla player only 5ft 9in tall.

Gil’s promising profile continues to impress as the youngster has been awarded a three-star skill moves to rate, giving him the ability to pull off the majority of key skill moves on the game.

The wide playmaker also has a three-star weak foot rating, suggesting he can still produce quality when cutting in onto his weaker right foot, making him a tricky player to contain as an opposing defender.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be pleased about Gil’s work rate, as he has been given a high attacking work rate and medium defensive work rate, meaning whilst he does help out in defence, he is more forward-thinking and attack-minded.

Overall, Gil’s FIFA 21 profile suggests Spurs are getting a technically gifted, promising midfielder that can challenge for a starting spot at the club, should he reach his potential.
