Alexandre Lacazette interest revived to boost Arsenal transfer budget as deal is confirmed

Here’s all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Xhaka update

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka still could remain at the club this summer after all.

This is because the latest reports coming out of Italy have cast doubts over his proposed transfer to Roma, where he would link up with former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho. have already reported that personal terms between the midfielder and the Serie A side are sorted, and the Swiss international has his heart set on a move.

However, La Stampa, via TMW, have claimed that ‘everything has stopped’ because Roma haven’t matched Arsenal’s valuation.

Furthermore, the report states that the Gunners want €20million (£17.1m) for Xhaka, but Roma have so far failed to match that fee required to unlock the potential transfer.

Will the clubs find a way to reach an agreement before deadline day?

Arsenal complete signing

Arsenal have signed youngster Mika Biereth.

The 18-year-old scored 21 goals in 21 Under-18 Premier League matches for Fulham last term but turned down a professional contact at Craven Cottage, which has allowed the Gunners to pounce.

Biereth has operated as a winger in the past, but his natural role is as a No.9, and will strengthen what is already a very talented production line of strikers emerging from Arsenal’s academy.

Alexandre Lacazette has recently entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and there’s talk of him being sold to raise funds for Arsenal to sign Abraham from Chelsea.

According to a report from the Mirror, the Gunners are willing to let the Frenchman leave this summer if an offer of £15m comes their way.

And it would appear that La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are ready to test Arsenal’s resolve.

Reports in Italy – via Calciomercato – claim that Diego Simeone’s side have revived their interest in Lacazette after being linked with the striker in recent transfer windows.

With the 30-year-old reportedly available at a cut-price fee, could this summer finally see the Spanish club sign their long-time target?
