One Arsenal transfer rumour that appears to have gone quiet involves Manchester United midfielder Donny Van de Beek.

With Gunners manager Mikel Arteta tipped to bolster his options in central midfield this summer, 90Min reported that the north London outfit held an interest in the Dutchman as well as Brighton and Hove Albion’s Yves Bissouma.

Furthermore, ESPN claimed that ‘realistic offers’ for squad players, such as Van de Beek and Anthony Martial, would be considered by the Red Devils this summer.

Meanwhile, FCInterNews reported that Van de Beek is said to see his future in the Premier League, despite the frustrating spell he’s endured so far at Old Trafford.

However, with Arsenal signing Albert Sambi Lokonga as well as being linked with Wolves’ Ruben Neves, talk of signing van de Beek has gone quiet and the latest development at United would suggest the Dutchman is staying put.

As reported by The Telegraph, the Red Devils are ‘expecting’ a formal approach for Paul Pogba from Paris Saint-Germain in the current transfer window.

In addition, it’s claimed that the Ligue 1 giants believe a deal could be done for £43million.

Although, according to the Mirror, United are reportedly only willing to sanction the Frenchman’s sale if their £50m valuation is met.

One would assume that If Pogba was to leave Man United this summer, it would increase Van de Beek’s chances of regular first-team football next season and get his career back on track.

And amid speculation about his future, Van De Beek has been active on social media.

But not to address the rumours, as he returned to training this week after missing the European Championships through injury and captured the moment with a four-word message on Instagram that read: “Good to be back”.

Whether the 24-year-old is still at United when the transfer window closes next month remains to be seen, but a move to Arsenal does look unlikely.

As revealed by football.london, the Gunners are focusing their attentions on Martin Odegaard and James Maddison as Arteta looks to add more creativity to his squad.

Arsenal have not given up hope of bringing the Norway international back to the Emirates Stadium, whilst they have sounded out the possibility of signing the latter through intermediaries.

With that said, the £60m asking price for Maddison is likely to prove a sticking point until player sales are made.
