Chelsea could potentially revisit their interest in previous transfer target Stefan de Vrij as they aim to seal a centre-back in the summer transfer window.

The Blues have already been strongly linked with Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde recently, with reports suggesting that the Blues were determined to get a deal done for the Frenchman.

As of yet however, the defender remains with the Spanish outfit, although Chelsea are understood to be keen to bring in a centre-back.

One option that they could turn to is Inter Milan’s de Vrij.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Dutchman’s agent Mino Raiola is attempting to find potential buyers this window, with the Italian giants’ current financial situation potentially leading to exits this summer.

It is further reported that Inter are set to demand €40million (£33.9million) for de Vrij’s signature, with the defender having just two years remaining on his current contract at the San Siro.

This would certainly be considerably cheaper than any deal for Kounde considering that the Frenchman has an €80million (£67.8million) release clause in his contract at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Should Chelsea make a move, it would see them reignite their interest in de Vrij having previously had an eye on the Dutchman in 2018.

It was reported by The Sun that the then Lazio defender was being courted by the likes of the Blues and Barcelona, but he instead opted for a switch to Inter Milan.

The 29-year-old has since racked up 124 appearances for the Italian giants and was a key player in their Serie A title success under Antonio Conte last season.

De Vrij, a 49-time Dutch international, could potentially be the second player to swap the San Siro for Stamford Bridge this summer, with Chelsea also pursuing a big-money move for former striker Romelu Lukaku.
