Arsenal have just 25 days left to complete their squad re-build, with the transfer market slamming shut on August 31.

The Gunners, who travel to newly-promoted Brentford on the opening day of the Premier League campaign, have already added Ben White, Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga to their ranks this summer and they aren’t done yet.

As first reported by back in May, chief executive Edu is hoping to bring in a goalkeeper, a right-back and an attacking midfielder in a bid to freshen up an underperforming squad. understands that the Brazilian’s ‘number one target’ for the latter position is Leicester City’s James Maddison given Norwegian captain Martin Odegaard reportedly wants to stay at Real Madrid this summer to fight for a place in the starting lineup.

However, the Foxes seem intent on keeping their star midfielder, with head coach Brendan Rodgers admitting that he is keen to keep the 24-year-old at the King Power for the foreseeable future, which could force the north London club to turn their attention elsewhere in their search of a creative playmaker.

Arsenal’s boss Mikel Arteta could even use his connections at Manchester City, whom he spent four-and-a-half seasons with as an assistant coach, to attempt to sign Portuguese international Bernardo Silva after City’s manager Pep Guardiola admitted that the 26-year-old wants to leave the Etihad this month.

“He’s our player. Not just Bernardo, there are two, three or four players that want to leave but they are our players under contract and when they bring some offer and their agents come here and they want to leave we are open to discuss absolutely everything but it depends on them,” Guardiola said.

“Otherwise, they will continue training really well, they will stay here and I will decide if they stay or don’t stay.

“The players who want to leave know the door is open because we don’t want anyone here unsatisfied but they have to bring someone. Otherwise, they will stay here.”

Silva, who is valued at £63million according to Transfermarkt, boasts an impressive record at City, notching 35 goals and 44 assists across 201 games, numbers that read even better when you consider he has played in a plethora of positions during his time in Manchester, including as a winger, a No.10 and even as a box-to-box midfielder.
