Tottenham striker Harry Kane will train on his own pitch while he continues to isolate after the striker returned from his holiday earlier this week.

Kane, broke his silence on the situation surrounding his future on Friday, will remain in The Lodge at Hotspur Way, training alone and will isolate until Thursday.

He is not expected to play any part against Manchester City in the season opener, at this stage.

Contrary to reports of the striker intentionally not turning up to training in order to try and force through a move up north in Manchester, Kane came out fighting on social media in an attempt to shut down these rumours.

“It’s almost ten years since I made my Spurs debut. For every one of those years, you – the fans – have shown me total support and love,” he said in a statement on his Twitter account.

“That’s why it hurts to read some of the comments that have been made this week, questioning my professionalism.

“While I won’t go into the specifics of the situation, I want to clarify that I would never, and have never, refused to train.

“I will be returning to the club tomorrow, as planned. I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardise the relationship that I have with the fans who have given me such unwavering support during my time with the club.

“This has always been the case as it is today.”

With the 28-year-old now back in training, our football.london Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold has provided the latest on the unsettled striker.

His tweet read: ‘Harry Kane is set to remain in The Lodge at Hotspur Way, training on his own pitch, isolating until Thursday following his holiday.

‘Not expected to play a part against Manchester City at this stage, but that’s no shock.’

There would have been a hint of irony watching Kane play against the club who are so keen on him, with Pep Guardiola coming out this week to clarify their stance on any potential move for Kane in this transfer window.

“He’s a player for Tottenham Hotspur. If Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, it’s finished,” Guardiola claimed on Friday.

“If they are open to negotiate, I think not just Man City but many clubs in the world want to try to sign him – we are not an exception – but it depends on Tottenham.

“It’s different from Jack. Jack had a release clause and he is different. Harry Kane is an exceptional, extraordinary striker – no doubts about that, of course we are interested – but he is a Tottenham player and, if they don’t want to negotiate, there is nothing more to say. If they want to, we will try.”

Kane enjoyed an extremely productive 2020/21 campaign, notching 33 goals and 17 assists across all competitions.
