‘Messi deal done!’ – Arsenal fans’ bizarre transfer theory after Edu is ‘spotted’ in Spain

Arsenal fans have a transfer theory about technical director Edu’s latest trip.

The summer window closes on August 31, and there are still holes in Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad that need to be addressed despite three new arrivals so far.

A back-up goalkeeper, a creative midfielder and a new striker appear to be on the agenda for the Gunners between now and deadline day amid links to Aaron Ramsdale, James Maddison and Lautaro Martinez.

However, much to the anger of some Arsenal supporters on social media, Edu appears to be in a relaxed mood as the start of the new Premier League season and the August 31 deadline approach at a rapid pace.

As ‘spotted’ by @Ahmed91Gooner and uploaded to Twitter, the Brazilian posted an image on Instagram of him on holiday in Spain.

And it’s safe to say that judging by some of the responses, fans weren’t too impressed with the timing of Edu’s trip.

However, it could be good news.

This is because the last time Edu took a short break – when he was reunited with Arsenal’s former Head of Football Raul Sanllehi in Monaco – a few days later Arsenal announced the signing of Lokonga from Anderlecht and finally reached an agreement with Brighton for White.

Therefore, there is a theory that history could repeat itself once again with many supporters getting rather excited about the potential of a fourth summer signing.

Ranging from Martin Odegaard to extremely ambitious suggestions that Edu was in Spain to agree a deal for Lionel Messi – despite him being expected to join Paris Saint-Germain – there have been some brilliant theories doing the rounds on social media.
