Lukasz Fabianski (off 64) – No serious efforts to save but was commanding in the air, coming out to claim every Atalanta corner with great authority. Areola will have to put in some fine performances to replace the current number one. 6

Vladimir Coufal (off 64) – Showed endless energy despite only being ten days into his pre-season training. Continuously bombed up the right flank to fire in dangerous crosses. 7

Issa Diop – Continued his excellent pre-season with another solid performance, this time playing as the right centre-back of a back three and doing so well. 7

Craig Dawson – Pace may not be his best asset but his reading of the game often makes up for it, was well placed on a number of occasions to intercept or shepherd the Atalanta attack away from danger. 7

Aaron Cresswell – Excellent set-piece delivery and solid in defence, exactly what you expect from Aaron Cresswell. 6

Declan Rice (off 64) – Showed fantastic work rate to hassle possession off the Atalanta defence. Did not look like this was his first match in a month, Rice put in a fine case to start against Newcastle next weekend. 7

Tomas Soucek (off 64) – A huge threat at set-pieces and made his presence count in the middle of the park. Looked like he had never been away as he and Rice linked up well. 6

Pablo Fornals – Looked more comfortable after the spate of substitutions allowed him to move into the centre of the park. The more Fornals can see of the ball the better for West Ham. Got forward regularly and linked up nicely with Benrahma and often found himself in threatening positions, one of which led to the last-minute goal that deflected in off his back. 7

Andriy Yarmolenko (off 64) – Looked bright in phases understandably tired as the game went on. 6

Said Benrahma – Did not have the same influence in the second half as he did in the first but was still a threat whenever he had the ball at his feet. Looked extremely dangerous throughout the match and provided a fine assist for Michail Antonio’s strike. 8

Michail Antonio (off 64) – A superb first-half where he provided the Atalanta defence with a very physical challenge, good movement to find himself in space on the left on a number of occasions. Took his goal very well, will be a key man for the upcoming season. 8

Substitutions:

Alphonse Areola (on 64) – Had little to do on his first appearance in a Hammers shirt. 6

Ryan Fredericks (on 64) –The Englishman did well when he came on, his pace is often key in helping out the likes of Dawson and Cresswell who can be got at in that area. 6

Ben Johnson (on 64) –Showed his versatility to come on and play left wing-back after starting in right midfield last weekend. Defended well and pushed forward in attack, not a natural left-footer so has to often cut inside on his right. 6

Conor Coventry (on 64) –Good in possession and kept the game ticking over for West Ham. 6

Mark Noble (on 64) – Tidy in possession, one particular disguised pass behind the Atalanta backline was expertly pulled off. 6

Jarrod Bowen (on 64) –Made some nice runs to stretch the Atalanta defence but saw little of the ball. 6
