Jorginho has become the first Chelsea player to comment on the Romelu Lukaku transfer saga.
It is understood that a fee has been agreed between Serie A side Inter Milan and Chelsea, that will see Lukaku return to Stamford Bridge for £97.5million.
The Belgian, who was at Stamford Bridge from 2011 to 2014, has agreed terms with the Blues and his transfer will be announced in the coming days.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have been in the market for a world-class striker all summer and the 28-year-old became their No.1 target after a deal for Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Erling Braut Haaland proved impossible.
Supporters have already praised Chelsea’s director Marina Granovskaia for bringing Lukaku back to West London, and now midfielder Jorginho, speaking to TNT Sports, has had his say on the new signing, becoming the first Blues player to do so publically.
“A player like Lukaku, who has been doing great, was a champion in Italy, for sure is a player who would contribute a lot,” he said.
“Anyone who comes to contribute would be worth it. Let’s see what happens next.”
Lukaku can certainly contribute, having already scored 113 Premier League goals in 252 appearances for West Brom, Everton and Manchester United.
He joined Inter in 2019 and has scored 64 goals in two seasons in Milan, lifting the Serie A title earlier this year.
According to The Athletic, Lukaku has agreed a five-year deal to return to the club he believes he has ‘unfinished business’ with.
The report claims Lukaku will undergo his medical in Belgium on Sunday before travelling to London to finalise a mega summer transfer.
