Here are your Chelsea morning headlines on Sunday, August 8.
Romelu Lukaku deal agreed
Chelsea have been on the hunt this summer for an elite striker and it looks like they’ve finally secured their man .
Romelu Lukaku is set to return to Stamford Bridge after the club agreed a €115million (£97.5million) deal with Inter to sign the Belgian striker.
The 28-year-old will become Chelsea’s most expensive player ever, eclipsing deals that saw Kepa Arrizabalaga and Kai Havertz join the club for around £71million each.
Lukaku will sign a five-year contract, with the Athletic reporting that the striker will earn around £195,00-per-week after tax.

Havertz and Messi agree on Mount
Mason Mount has had a stunning start to his Chelsea career. After breaking into the team under Frank Lampard’s guidance, the midfielder has become a key player for both the Blues and England.
He played a big role as Chelsea beat Manchester City to claim the Champions League trophy last season, setting up the winning goal for Kai Havertz to slot home.
His teammate has had some incredibly positive things to say about the 22-year-old – and he’s not the only one who has noticed with some big praise from superstar Lionel Messi.
Lukaku decision that helped seal transfer
One of Chelsea’s biggest boosts in the race to sign Lukaku centres around the striker’s decision to change his representation.
In 2018, the Belgian signed up with rapper Jay-Z’s sports agency, Roc Nation Sports, thus becoming the first Premier League player to do so in the process.
As a result, he left super-agent Mino Raiola.
Lukaku won’t have known it at the time, but in making this big change he has helped Chelsea avoid a ‘disruptive’ transfer problem.
The Blues had been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland for much of the summer and it just so happens that the Norway international is represented by Raiola – and dealing with him would apparently have been quite a lot more problematic.
