There were plenty of yellow cards, the woodwork hit four times and twice of those by Dele Alli for Spurs and once late on by Eric Dier.
Tottenham eventually broke the deadlock in the second half with Japhet Tanganga battling to win the ball off Pepe in the corner, playing a one-two of sorts with Giovani Lo Celso and then teeing up Son Heung-min to score the winning goal.
With the future of Harry Kane still the subject of plenty of speculation as well as Spurs having held talks with Inter Milan over striker Lautaro Martinez, there is plenty for Espirito Santo to speak about.
