Chelsea legend John Terry has claimed that he would love to see N’Golo Kante win the Ballon d’or this year because his work goes heavily under the radar.

The Blues midfielder – who incidentally lifted yet another trophy with the club on Wednesday evening after helping Thomas Tuchel’s side to victory on penalties in the UEFA Super Cup – has been praised for many fantastic performances in recent times.

And after a number of impressive displays, he, as well as Chelsea teammate Jorginho, have been talked about as potential frontrunners for the Balon d’Or alongside the likes of Lionel Messi.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, beloved ex-Chelsea captain, Terry, said Kante deserves to win football’s top honour because he does so many things that players don’t even notice.

“Kante’s like 11 players on his own,” said Terry. “What he does, he goes so under the radar. He is such a top-class player.

“I’d love to go see him win the Balon d’Or or get the appreciation that I feel he deserves.

“He’s such a humble guy. He just goes about his business and keeps out of any trouble.

“He’s been a great asset for the football club and we are very lucky to have at Chelsea for sure.”

Although the Frenchman’s contract doesn’t end until June 2023, Terry continued by stating that it’ll be great to see Kante commit his long-term future to the Blues to help build something special at the club.

“N’Golo still has so much to give over the next few years. He’s one of the fittest players I’ve come across as well.

“It would be great to see Chelsea tie him down and keep him at the football club.”

For now at least, Kante will have his eyes set on the task at hand as Chelsea prepare to host Crystal Palace in their first game of the new Premier League season on Saturday.
