Nuno Espirito Santo makes Tottenham transfer admission amid more summer business

Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted that he needs balance in his current squad throughout the remainder of the transfer window.

Transfer chief Fabio Paratici has been relatively busy throughout the current window having sealed three additions to the current crop of players at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero have both arrived on-loan from Atalanta, whilst young midfielder Bryan Gil was snapped up from Spanish outfit Sevilla.

There have also been a few notable outgoings, too. Erik Lamela was a makeweight in the deal that saw Gil sign for Spurs, while Joe Hart and Toby Alderweireld have departed for Celtic and Al-Duhail respectively.

The club’s business does not look like ending there with the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Serge Aurier and of course Harry Kane facing uncertain futures.

Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted that there could well be more movement to address the somewhat lopsided nature of his squad.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s clash with Manchester City, he said: “The squad needs balance. We have a very talented squad but needs to be balanced. We know, everybody knows, Fabio [Paratici] and Steve [Hitchen] are working very hard.

“But like I say, it’s always hard to improve something that is good. We have to be really, really accurate on the players we bring because have to bring things that we believe can make us better and stronger. It’s not easy because we have quality players with us.”

The former Wolves boss has also not ruled out there being surprise departures or additions as the transfer window creeps into its final fortnight.

He continued: “It’s easy to understand. While the transfer window is open, we have to be very, very aware of that.

“Because sometimes you have to react, sometimes you have to act. When I say act, our squad is talented and quality but we have to balance and there are positions that have to be well-balanced in terms of what we look for all the year.

“We have to realise anything can happen in football, anything.”
