‘Very excited’- Arsenal fans shocked at what Mikel Arteta has done ahead of Brentford clash

Arsenal fans are delighted on the whole to see youngster Folarin Balogun being given the vote of confidence from manager Mikel Arteta to lead the line against Brentford in the Premier League curtain-raiser to the 2021/22 season.

Balogun, 20, has been trusted to fill the void in the attack left by both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette who both miss Friday night’s trip to the Brentford Community Stadium through illness.

This is a remarkable turn of events for the striker who has been lauded by the fans that have always wanted to see more of him in pre-season, and they will certainly get a better taste of what he’s all about in this London derby.

In fact, after signing his long-term contract with the club, there were hints that the United States-born forward was feeling frustrated at the lack of opportunities being offered his way in pre-season with a recent social media post.

Arsenal’s starting XI against Brentford (4-2-3-1): Leno; Chambers, White, Mari, Tierney; Xhaka, Sambi Lokonga; Pepe, Balogun, Martinelli.
