Here’s all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.
Arsenal are set to make a formal offer for Martin Odegaard after the Norwegian signalled his intent to leave Real Madrid, football.london understands.
football.london revealed in June that Arsenal want to bring the attacking midfielder back to the Emirates Stadium after his loan spell during the second of last season.
Mikel Arteta and Edu’s shortlist of players includes Leicester midfielder James Maddison, whose asking price of £60million plus add-ons can only be reached after the Gunners make player sales.
Those sales have been hard to come by this summer with Joe Willock the only first-team player to leave on a permanent transfer, completing his £25m move to Newcastle.
It’s not expected that Odegaard will be a part of the Real Madrid squad that plays away to La Liga side Alaves on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are looking to make more signings before the transfer deadline day on August 31.
AS Roma are reportedly considering Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho as an alternative to Tammy Abraham this summer.
With Arsenal interested in bringing Abraham to the Emirates Stadium, this development may serve as a massive boost.
News that Jose Mourinho’s men are now considering moving onto other targets including Leicester’s Iheanacho could mean that the England international has no plans to join the Serie A side.
Although, it is likely that Abraham will depart Stamford Bridge before deadline day.
He had already fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel and his minutes look even more limited next season with the Blues having secured a club-record deal for Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku.
£51m Vlahovic deal
With that said, Abraham is not the only striker being linked with a move to Arsenal.
According to recent reports, the Gunners are one of several clubs interested in signing Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, who netted 21 goals in 37 Serie A appearances last season.
Currently valued at €40m (£34m) on transfermarkt, the 21-year-old could very well be in the north London outfit’s price range, especially if they manage to offload one of Alexandre Lacazette or Eddie Nketiah.
But they will have to move quickly to sign Vlahovic as reports in Italy claim Atletico Madrid are preparing an offer of €60m (£51m) plus bonuses for the centre-forward.
The reigning champions of Spain also have a massive advantage over Arsenal in that they can offer the striker European football this season.
Having finished eighth in the Premier League last season, there is no Champions League, Europa League or even the newly-created Europa Conference League on show at the Emirates this term.
