Thomas Tuchel has made five changes to his Chelsea side for the Blues’ Premier League opener against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge
Edouard Mendy starts in goal for the Blues. Chelsea’s Super Cup hero Kepa Arrizabalga is on the substitutes’ bench.
Trevoh Chalobah is handed his Premier League debut for Chelsea having produced a hugely impressive display in Belfast against Villarreal and is expected to line up on the right of the back three.
Andreas Christensen is back in the starting XI and will take the middle centre-back position. Antonio Rudiger will start on the left.
Cesar Azpilicueta is deployed at right wing-back while on the opposite flank Marcos Alonso keeps his place despite playing 120 minutes on Wednesday.
N’Golo Kante isn’t fit for Chelsea having suffered a knock in the Super Cup win so the midfield consists of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho.
With Romelu Lukaku in quarantine, Hakim Ziyech injured, and Kai Havertz fatigued having started and completed the game against Villarreal, Thomas Tuchel has gone with his tried and trusted options.
Christian Pulisic will start on the right of the attacking three with Timo Werner through the middle. Mason Mount, having only played twice in pre-season, also starts for the Blues.
Chelsea: Mendy; Chalobah, Christensen, Rudiger; Azpi, Kovacic, Jorginho, Alonso; Pulisic, Werner, Mount
Chelsea substitutes: Kepa, Chilwell, Emerson, James, Thiago Silva, Zouma, Havertz, Hudson-Odoi, Abraham
