Tottenham fans predict top four heartbreak for the 2021/22 Premier League season in fan survey

The majority of Tottenham fans have predicted top four heartbreak in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first campaign at the club as Spurs’ Head Coach according to the latest football.london survey.

The Lillywhites kick-off their season on Sunday against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side who have gone all out this summer, with the £100million acquisition of English star Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

After a long managerial search which started at the end of last season with Jose Mourinho receiving the chop despite making it to the Carabao Cup final, the now-former Wolves manager was the chosen one to take over the reigns in N17.

In a summer of change for the club, which has included bringing in Juventus’ sporting director Fabio Paratici, the north Londoners are currently undergoing major surgery as they prepare to renter the top four talk ahead of the new season.

An underwhelming finish of 7th was the catalyst for this change as Spurs will be now competing in the newly formed European Conference League in this upcoming campaign.

With the large amount of games that will be played throughout the season, additions have been added to provide the quality needed for Tottenham to maybe challenge and win their first trophy since their League Cup success in 2008.

Atalanta’s duo of Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero have joined young Spanish winger Bryan Gil in moving to north London this summer, with another centre-half expected in before the window slams shut on August 31.

In spite of the rebuild that is going on this summer, the major talking point that has largely dominated this transfer window is Harry Kane’s future with the club.

Tottenham’s talisman is understood to want to move on for a new challenge this summer, with Manchester City highly interested in signing the 28-year-old to fill the void left by Sergio Aguero.

football.london understands that Daniel Levy does not want to sell his most prized asset, and it could take upwards of £150m for Spurs’ chairman to even consider a sale.

Away from all the drama of the transfer window, fans have been voting in football.london’s pre-season survey on what they are expecting in a number of different categories from Tottenham this season.

Around 3000 Spurs supporters took part in our predictions surveys and picked out the players to watch, as well as where they believe the side will finish in the Premier League.

Firstly, when asked about where Spurs will finish under Nuno this season, Spurs fans were split. While the vast majority believe a top ten finish isn’t in doubt, the exact finish of Spurs is up for debate.

26% of survey takers believe Spurs will finish 5th, while 24% opted for a 4th place finish and Champions League football. 17% believe Nuno will guide his team to 6th, and 13% reckon the new boss will finish 3rd this season.

As for the players to watch, heavy transfer speculation over the future of Harry Kane had a say – with 55% believing that Son Heung-Min will end the season as the top scorer under Nuno. 3% believe Lautaro Martinez will be the top man in front of goal should he sign, and 35% feel that if Kane stays, he’ll be the top marksman.

As for a surprise/breakout star, 31% of Spurs supporters in our survey believe that Dele Alli is set to recapture his form in North London, but was pipped to the post by Oliver Skipp who took home 32% of the vote. Youngster Dane Scarlett is an outside shout with 7% while Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura took home 13% and 17% of the vote respectively.

Skipp was also the choice for the young player to watch – with 43% of the vote. Scarlett wasn’t too far behind, capturing a quarter of the overall vote, while Japhet Tanganga claimed 14% of the tally.

4:30 pm on Sunday is the first glimpse we will all get of Espirito Santo’s newly former Spurs team who host the Citizens on home turf at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
