‘Lovely stuff’ – Chelsea fans spotted what Reece James did to Granit Xhaka in Arsenal win

Reece James was arguably Chelsea’s standout player in the side’s impressive 2-0 victory over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues, who have been strongly tipped to seriously challenge for the Premier League title this season, showcased their brilliance in front of a packed Emirates Stadium.

James provided the assist for Chelsea’s opening goal, converted by debutant Romelu Lukaku, before the England right-back got on the scoresheet himself with a fantastically converted finish.

The 21-year-old defender has quickly became a fan favourite among the Chelsea supporters since making his competitive debut for the west London club in 2018, and what he did on Sunday will have only grown his reputation.

As well as the goal and the assist for the England international, James was spotted doing something off-the-ball at the Emirates – and Chelsea fans loved it.

James, when passing the ball back to Andreas Christensen, was caught late by Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka and the defender then proceeded to push, albeit very softly, the Switzerland international to the floor.

@the_shortz1987 said: “I literally just sat and watched this repeat for about 5 mins.”

@AdityaPraSaw said: “Reece James pushing Arsenal down to the 19th League Position.”

@M19ntprop: “This makes Reece better than Arsenal’s all-time squad.”

@ChelsFooty: “If James actually tried xhaka would have flew down the tunnel loooool.”

James is likely to be in action this weekend, with Chelsea facing fellow Premier League title challengers Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The Blues go to Merseyside looking to maintain their perfect start to the league season but will be up against Jurgen Klopp’s side, who have also picked up back-to-back wins at the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
