Chelsea on alert to £137m Kylian Mbappe transfer bid as Eden Hazard could be set for reunion

Here’s all the news from around Stamford Bridge over the past 24 hours.

Harry Kane announcement

Harry Kane has confirmed he will be staying at Tottenham amid talk of a summer transfer away.

The England captain has been heavily linked with a move to Man City but has now revealed his plans to remain in north London for the foreseeable future.

This is because City have not done enough to turn Daniel Levy’s head, with the Premier League champions believed to have only made a bid of £75million plus £25m in add-ons for the England captain.

Taking to social media on Wednesday afternoon, Kane provided an update on his future and confirmed the news that all Spurs fans had been hoping for.

“I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success,” he tweeted.

It’s not only Spurs fans who are delighted with this development as Man City’s failure to sign Kane could hand Chelsea a major boost in the Premier League title race.

Real Madrid firesale

Real Madrid’s reported £137m bid for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe could put Chelsea on alert with five days until the summer transfer window closes.

If the La Liga giants manage to sign the France international, it could leave the Blues casting an intrigued glance over at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Whilst Chelsea will not be pursuing a deal for Mbappe this summer, they could instead make a move for a number of Los Blancos’ current stars, who could well be on the way out with Madrid making room.

Madrid will likely have to sell players should they seal Mbappe’s signature in order to balance their books somewhat.

Hazard return?

A few months have passed since Eden Hazard made his first return to Chelsea following his big-money transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019.

And he could be reunited with his former club very soon.

Today is the draw for the Champions League group phase and the Blues are in pot 1 alongside Premier League champions Manchester City as a result of winning the competition last season.

But after losing out to rivals Atletico Madrid in the La Liga title race, Los Blancos are in pot 2 alongside the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Liverpool.

As the rules state that Chelsea can’t be paired with another Premier League side, Real Madrid are one of six teams they can be drawn with.

A repeat of last season’s semi-final means Hazard will face the Blues home and away before Christmas in what would be two mouth-watering group stage encounters.
