Welcome to ourfootball.london Chelsea media watch piece. Maybe not the first, we’ve definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it’s not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Ilaix Moriba ‘spotted in London’

Mundo Deportivo have reported that Barcelona player Ilaix Moriba has been spotted in London. This comes after links between Chelsea and Moriba due to a soured relationship between the player and Barcelona.

Moriba’s contract is due to expire next summer and Barcelona are looking for €20m for the player if he wants to leave the club. German club RB Leipzig are also interested in the player but Mundo claim that they have had a bid rejected already.

Chelsea are frontrunners in the hunt for Moriba as a result but will have to fend off interest from Leipzig who will most likely offer more minutes on the pitch compared to what he is likely to get at Stamford Bridge.

Deal for Kounde almost done

Reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that a deal for Jules Kounde is almost done. The player is set to move to Chelsea for €50m plus add ons and is ready to ‘say goodbye to Sevilla’.

Chelsea to replicate Mateo Kovacic tactic with Saul Niguez

Chelsea are in talks with Atletico Madrid over a loan deal for Saul Niguez, which would then see them have the option to buy the player next summer.

It’s a similar tactic to the one used when the Blues signed Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid before eventually committing to a permanent transfer and while Atletico’s preference would be for an obligation to buy at the end of the loan, Telegraph Sport are reporting that the deal has a chance of getting done before Tuesday night’s deadline.

Saul has also attracted interest from Manchester United as Atletico prepare to offload him in the wake of signing Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese earlier this summer.

Harry Kane didn’t want to ‘sabotage legacy’ at Spurs

Yesterday Harry Kane took to social media to confirm that he would stay at Tottenham Hotspur. He wrote: “It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I’ve had in the last few weeks.

“I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success. #COYS”

This comes after links away from the club in order for Kane to win trophies and play in the Champions League. Manchester City were linked with the striker to replace Sergio Aguero but those rumours have now been put to an end with Kane’s statement.

The Athletic have reported that Kane was hesitant on a move to the west side of London and Chelsea as he did not want to “sabotage his legacy” at Tottenham.
