Three ways Arsenal fans can distract themselves from Champions League and Europa League draws – Chris Davison

Arsenal’s eighth-place finish last season and lack of domestic trophies, mean they’ll have no involvement in either of the Champions League or Europa League draws for the first time in 26 years.

Watching Gianni Infantino painfully grin through the ceremony has become a ritual-like experience for Gunners fans but now they must face the reality of having the afternoon free.

So, how can you distract yourself from the draw? Our Arsenal Fan Brands team has three ways you can make it through…

1. Deep dive into Ramsdale and Odegaard content

There hasn’t been much to smile about for Arsenal fans in recent times, but I would imagine the 6-0 win against West Brom last night sparked some positivity.

The solid displays from two new signings were also nice to witness, with Aaron Ramsdale and Martin Odegaard impressing during the Carabao Cup clash.

Odegaard, who joined permanently from Real Madrid last week, provided an assist in what was a lovely team goal. The Norwegian put Bukayo Saka one-on-one with the Baggies keeper via a sweet backheel flick and the 19-year-old made no mistake in finding the back of the net.

Meanwhile, Ramsdale looked reassuring in goal and was comfortable when called upon. Although he didn’t have an awful lot to do, the goalkeeper made some good saves to ensure his team kept a clean sheet.

Ramsdale also appeared calm on the ball and successfully completed some nice passes out from his 18-yard box, this was a refreshing sight after previously witnessing Bernd Leno struggle in similar scenarios on many occasions.

It was a good start for the new arrivals and long may it continue. If you need a distraction from the European draws, I highly recommend watching a ‘Behind The Scenes’ video of Ramsdale and Odegaard signing for the club last week. (Chris Davison – Fan Brands Content Editor)

2. Revel in the misery of our rivals

Arsenal fans usually come together for these occasions – or rather we used to – to either bemoan our bad luck in being drawn alongside a Barcelona or Bayern Munich, or try and work out the cheapest route to western Bratislava by train for a midweek fixture in November.

Rather than just twiddling our thumbs, we should use this time productively and what better way to do that than enjoying the angst of our rivals?

Watching a certain infamous ‘Fan TV’ channel is a popular past-time for rival fans across the country. So why not put your feet up and watch our Chelsea counterparts lose their minds as Liverpool get a ‘fixed’ draw? Or have a look at some Manchester United fans as they draw up statistics on how Manchester City have drawn Shakhtar Donestk for the eighth season in a row.

The best way we can keep going as a fan base through the lack of European football is revelling in the misery of others. (Hush Kerai – Arsenal Fan Brands Editor)

3. Research ahead of Deadline Day

With Transfer Deadline Day approaching, it is imperative that Arsenal fans get clued up on the possible players who could yet arrive before the close of the window.

Firstly, is Kieran Trippier. The Atletico Madrid full-back has been of interest to Arsenal to be the upgrade in the right-back position in Mikel Arteta’s team. With experience comes quality and in this deep dive, the statistics of how the England international compares to Hector Bellerin are revealed.

Secondly, French international and Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar remains a real possibility. The 23-year-old has reportedly been made available for transfer by the French club. The player has split opinion and writers Tom Canton and Bailey Keogh held a debate highlighting the argument for and against the signature of Aouar.

Finally, is the possibility of a surprise acquisition from La Liga. This summer Arsenal have employed more than just new members of the playing staff. The club have also made an effort to bring in quality additions to the scouting department. Toni Lima joined the club in July of this year and is set to focus heavily on the divisions in Spain. Find out just who the players to watch from the Primera Division and beyond are that Lima might be keeping an eye on this season. (Tom Canton – Arsenal Fan Brands Writer & Presenter)
