‘Where are the players for now?’- Spurs fans question the usefulness of Pape Sarr signing

Tottenham fans are somewhat confused as to the usefulness of signing Pape Matar Sarr this summer after news broke that he will be loaned straight back to Ligue 1 side Metz after the transfer is complete.

Sarr, 18, was touted as a potential Tanguy Ndombele replacement as there were rumours initially circulating that the ex-Lyon man was keen on finding a new challenge elsewhere after a tough north London stint.

However, the latest on the deal to bring the youngster to N17 has suggested that Ndombele could be set to stay for another season as Nuno Espirito Santo doesn’t see his soon-to-be new signing as a player for now.

football.london understands that Fabio Paratici will loan the midfielder back to his current parent club once the permanent transfer goes through, and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed this plan – plus giving the infamous ‘here we go’ to the transfer which is now imminent.

Romano’s Tweet read: “Medical completed and now paperworks to be signed for Pape Sarr to Tottenham, here we go confirmed. Done deal for €15m guaranteed plus potential ‘huge’ add ons amount in the future.

“Sarr will stay on loan at Metz until June 2022, confirmed.”

This update coupled with many others has left the Spurs fanbase with mixed feelings on the prospect of seeing their new recruit not feature at least once in the white of Tottenham this season.
