Fintiri suspends Adamawa United FC chairman, investigates team’s persistent failures

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved the suspension of the Chairman of Adamawa United Football Club, Emmanuel Zira.

The governor has also constituted a forensic investigative panel to probe the team’s history of failures in the Nigerian leagues from 2015 to now.

The letter of suspension handed to the club chairman on Monday and made available to newsmen in the state capital, Yola, is headed “Urgent need to rescue Adamawa United Football club.”

The letter, signed by the Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Hon. Aloysius Baba Doke, said the suspension is in line with the policies of the government and its willingness to develop every sector.

The letter asked the management team to hand over government properties within 48 hours to the permanent secretary of the sports ministry.

It disclosed that in view of the development, “His Excellency has recommended the Constituting of a 5-Man panel” to investigate, audit and evaluate the activities of the team from 2015 to date.

”Further more, the commissioner of Youth and Sport shall take over the immediate management of Adamawa United for the mean time before the forensic investigating panel finishes its job,” the letter added

It thanked the suspended management team for service rendered and urged them to remain calm as the action against them is an exercise done in good faith in the interest of Adamawa people.

Adamawa United were relegated to the second division in July after a 0-4 loss to Dakkada FC.

The team had languished at the bottom of the league table all through the season and then suffered the huge loss to confirm its relegation to the second division with four matches left.

The story of woes for the team dates back a long way, but the planned investigation is scheduled to take it from six years ago.
