Chelsea fans are in confident mood ahead of the return of Premier League football after witnessing the forward duo of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner both score on international duty.
The pair’s performances for their respective countries have encouraged the Blues faithful that they will have enough firepower in attack this season to help supplement more success for Thomas Tuchel.
Both players scored in the first half with Lukaku netting in the 29th minute of Belgium’s friendly clash against Estonia, while Werner netted for Germany in the 41st minute in their World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein.
The Belgian then added his second of the game in the 52nd minute in Tallinn. It was also great news elsewhere from a Chelsea perspective, with Mason Mount assisting Raheem Sterling’s goal for England against Hungary.
Blues fans haven’t really seen the pair play together as of yet in west London with the current preferred front three of Mount, Kai Havertz and Lukaku himself producing the goods for Tuchel.
But maybe we will see this change now considering the fact that the 25-year-old’s form looks to have significantly improved after the £98million man returned to the club in the transfer window that just passed by.
Here’s how a selection of Chelsea fans reacted to see the duo score for their nations on Thursday night.
@saf_cfc tweeted: ‘Lukaku goal, Werner goal, Eden Hazard assist, Intl. break going great for Chelsea fans so far.’
@BlueLukaku made an optimistic prediction: ‘Nah Werner scored we are winning it all lads.’
@bigromdeuter pointed out: ‘Timo Werner sees Lukaku score and decides he’s had enough. Time to reclaim that starting spot, it’s Timo Lautaro Werner Martinez remontada baby.’
@CFC_ALFredo stated: ‘The runs from Werner to open up spaces, the through balls from Kai Havertz and finishing from Lukaku. That’s all we need.’
@studioyosepra has demanded: ‘Werner-Lukaku-Havertz is the way to go. You can’t ignore this. The potential is just too huge to ignore.’
Finally, @Monsieur_AK31 wants to see a formation change from Tuchel after the international break comes to an end: ‘Both Werner & Lukaku scored.
‘I wanna see them playing together.
‘2 strikers upfront….’
