Here is your Tottenham morning digest on Monday, September 13.

Cafu gives Romero verdict

Brazil legend Cafu has been hailing the abilities of Spurs summer signing Cristian Romero.

The former AC Milan and Roma defender was asked by Mundo Deportivo who stood out for him at this summer’s Copa America, and he picked the 23-year-old Argentinian centre-back.

“There are several young players who deserve to be highlighted. For Brazil, I was impressed by Lucas Paquetá, for example,” Cafu said.

“Also the Colombian Luis Díaz, MVP of the tournament, and Cristian Romero, from Argentina, who had a very good game in the final.”

Vlahovic reiterates Fiorentina commitment

Whilst Romero swapped Serie A for the Premier League this summer, the same cannot quite be said of Dusan Vlahovic.

The Fiorentina forward was linked with Spurs this summer as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.

However the Serbian elected to remain with his current employers and has been discussing that decision in more detail.

He said: “I said many times that I decided to stay in Florence, nobody else had to decide for me. When the coach arrived, and the squad we put together, it’s good. At the end of the season, we will see if it proved to be the right decision, but I followed my heart.”

Barcelona ‘reject’ swap offer

One man that Spurs did eventually manage to sign is Brazilian defender Emerson Royal.

He joined the club from Barcelona for a fee of €30m (£25.6m) but the structure of the deal could have been drastically different.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan giants reportedly rejected the offer of signing Tanguy Ndombele and Serge Aurier in exchange.
