Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has suggested that the Blues are “ready” to challenge for the Premier League crown as well as European glory this season.

The Senegalese stopper, who was signed from Rennes last season, has already enjoyed the pleasure of lifting silverware at Stamford Bridge in his relatively short Chelsea career.

He was key as the Blues claimed a second Champions League title against Manchester City last term, whilst he was also between the sticks as the Blues edged past Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup – albeit having been replaced by Kepa Arrizabalaga for the penalty shootout.

Mendy has now suggested that the Blues are hunting yet more silverware on both the domestic and European front.

Talking to Chelsea’s official website, he said: “The only thing I know is that this Chelsea team is ready for the Premier League, for the Champions League and for the cups.

“We want to be at the top of the league at the end of the season and we will work hard to try and achieve that.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea teammate Jorginho has agreed with the stopper and has also suggested that the current crop at Stamford Bridge will be trying their upmost to claim yet more glory.

The Italian said: “We will work every day to try to get better and better.

“We have our targets, which is try to win game by game, and then we will see what happens. We will work hard for the league, and for the Carabao Cup, for the Champions League, for the FA Cup.

“Of course, Chelsea deserve to be there fighting for that to happen, and we will definitely try everything and give everything so it does.”
