Carabao Cup: Arteta names Arsenal player he is ‘proud of’ after 3-0 win over Wimbledon

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said he is proud of Eddie Nkeitah, following their 3-0 win over Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Wednesday.

Arteta noted that the forward “fully deserved” his goal because he trained “like a beast”.

Nketiah was handed his first appearance of the season after being named in Arteta’s starting XI for the match. The 22-year-old pulled off an impudent backheeled finish with 10 minutes left at the Emirates.

The Gunners had gone ahead thanks to Alexandre Lacazette’s penalty and Emile Smith Rowe’s effort.

“I’m so proud of this kid,” Arteta told Sky Sports when asked about Nketiah’s display.

“He hasn’t played much, there’s a lot of speculation around him. The way he trains, the way he behaves, he’s always willing to help the team.

“He fully deserves what happens because he trains and prepares himself like a beast.”
