William Gallas says one Chelsea player makes the team ‘stronger than Manchester United’ – even though the Red Devils have brought Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo signed for United on transfer deadline day to make a dramatic return to Old Trafford, but former Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal defender Gallas thinks one Chelsea signing makes the Blues a more formidable side this season.

Speaking to Genting Casino, Gallas says he believes Chelsea could not only win the Premier League this season, but next year as well – thanks to the firepower of striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku himself also returned back to his former club as he arrived back at Stamford Bridge this summer for a club-record fee of £97.5million.

So far this season, Lukaku has bagged three Premier League goals for his new side – and Gallas says Chelsea ‘can beat any record’ with the Belgian international leading the line.

Asked if Chelsea can win back-to-back titles, Gallas replied: “Yes. They are the champions of Europe. They look stronger and stronger. If they are really focused they can beat any records, especially now they have Lukaku.

“This is a scary team for any opponent to play. Manchester United fans may think they have a stronger team with Ronaldo back, but if you take every player position by position then I believe Chelsea is stronger than United.

“I really can’t see any club that can beat them. Tuchel is a perfectionist and he always has a tactical plan. Whenever he plays against the league’s best managers, he always finds the solution. Chelsea can win the Premier League, definitely.”

The Blues are still unbeaten in the Premier League after their opening five games of the season – winning four and drawing one – but face some serious competition from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.

So far this season the Blues have beaten Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Tottenham as well as drawing away at Liverpool despite having Reece James sent off.

They face a stern test on Saturday as they host Premier League champions Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
