Crystal Palace fans have been reacting online to Patrick Vieira ‘s team selection for tonight’s match against Brighton at Selhurst Park.

The Frenchman has made two changes to his Eagles side that lost last time out at Anfield, bringing club captain Luka Milivojevic in to replace Cheikhou Kouyate and handing Odsonne Edouard his first start in a Palace shirt in place of Christian Benteke.

Edouard scored twice off the bench against Spurs on his debut two weeks ago, before making another appearance as a substitute in the 3-0 loss against Liverpool.

With Brighton’s physical threat some sections of the Crystal Palace support had hoped to see him keep his place in the team, though the majority of the response to Edouard’s inclusion has been extremely positive.

On Twitter, @Djamel__1997 said: “Masterclass incoming”, alongside a picture of Edouard, while @DanielCook107 said: “Edouard hat-trick please.”

@Alonsoo1888 tweeted: “Edouard is going to tear Brighton apart.

@CPFC_NEWera said: “Pretty happy with the lineup! Benteke super sub if we need a late goal (punting up top).”

Some supporters were hoping that Vieira might have included Michael Olise in his starting XI in place of Ghanaian winger Jordan Ayew, who hasn’t found the net for Palace since November 2020.

Olise, like Edouard, has come off the bench in the last two Premier League matches for the Eagles, and impressed fans with his attacking impetus and skills.

@sfield3 said: “Why why why is Ayew in our starting lineup, I don’t get it. That could be the difference between winning and losing tonight.”

Elsewhere, @rileyeagles simply said: “What does Olise have to do?”
