Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Wednesday, October 6.

Blues see Fati deal collapse

Chelsea reportedly had a deal for Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati collapse earlier in his career.

That is according to CalcioMercato Hotel who report that the Blues had pursued the Spaniard when he was a youngster and that his father had signed off on the deal.

However, problems with his passport had led to the move faltering, with Fati then going on to pen his first professional deal at the Camp Nou.

Juventus, Nice and West Ham United are also suggested to have been interested in his services before the problems with the player’s documentation.

Rudiger flattered by Bayern interest

Amid constant reports regarding his contractual situation and future with Chelsea, Antonio Rudiger has finally commented.

Talking in a press conference with the German national team, he said: “The interest honors me. That shows that I’ve done a few things right recently.

“But I don’t let myself be distracted. I have an obligation to my club to perform well. I have to prove myself every game and not let myself be distracted by rumours. I make my decisions for myself. They don’t depend on anyone. I feel good where I am.”

Ben Chilwell ‘ready’ for Chelsea

Meanwhile, fellow Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has been clarifying his thoughts on his situation at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel.

The German has seemingly preferred Marcos Alonso in his starting XI but Chilwell has signalled that he is prepared if called upon.

He said: “It’s about being patient, training hard. Marcos [Alonso] has been playing well and I have had to respect that. I’ve been training hard to make sure when I get my chance, I’m ready.”
