Dusan Vlahovic’s true transfer value revealed as Edu can seal £41m Arsenal masterstroke

Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic is only valued at £36million amid links with a move to Arsenal.

The Serbian frontman has found some spectacular form in Serie A over recent seasons and has consequently seen a number of clubs take an interest in his services.

He has scored 35 goals in 92 outings for Fiorentina, with six of those coming during the current campaign.

Arsenal have emerged as a reported contender for the striker, whilst north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also credited with an interest. Meanwhile, Manchester City are also said to be keen on Vlahovic, having failed to seal a move for Spurs striker Harry Kane in the summer.

Any interested parties might potentially have been handed considerable encouragement as they attempt to sign the 21-year-old.

It has been reported for some time that he is in the midst of contract discussions with Fiorentina, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2023.

However, in a blow to his current employers, it has been revealed that he has rejected an offer of renewal.

In a statement released on the club’s website, the club’s president Rocco Commisso said: “When I arrived in Florence, I promised the fans that I would be up front with them and that I would never make promises that I couldn’t keep.

“I would therefore like to update the Fiorentina fans on an issue that has been much talked and spoken about in recent months – the question of Dusan Vlahovic’s contract.

“As you know, Fiorentina made a very significant offer to the player. Our proposal would have made him the highest paid player in the history of the club.

“We also improved our offer on a number of occasions in order to accommodate the requests of both Dusan and his entourage. However, despite our efforts, those offers have not been accepted.”

That could potentially see Arsenal move for his signature and Edu could be about to strike a considerable bargain.

According to transfermarkt, Vlahovic is valued at £36m – some £41m below the reported £77m that Fiorentina want to sell their man.

Whilst it remains to be seen if the Italian outfit’s stance could change, his decreasing contract would certainly give Arsenal far more bargaining power should they choose to pursue a deal.
