YouTube Deletes R kelly’s Channel after Conviction.
Singer R kelly has received a lifetime band from video streaming platform YouTube, due to his recent sex trafficking conviction.
Some days ago the singer was found guilty on nine counts and violations of the Mann Act in US federal court. His crimes included sexually abusing women, boys, and girls for decades.
Since his conviction, YouTube has removed all its content due to the nature of his sex crimes.
YouTube confirmed this while talking to US tabloid Reuters:
‘We can confirm that we have terminated two channels linked to R Kelly in accordance with our creator responsibility guidelines.’
YouTube guidelines were updated in 2018 to penalise content creators for their behaviour or convictions. This means they can ban or delete creators channels if they are accused or convicted of an egregious crime.
We also learnt R Kelly’s music will still be available on YouTube Music, despite him being banned. And also videos and features of R Kelly uploaded by other users will continue to be available.
