‘Needed!’ – Chelsea fans decide Marina Granovskaia’s next transfer mission after Italy vs Spain

Chelsea supporters are desperate to sign Federico Chiesa after seeing the Juventus attacker in UEFA Nations League action for Italy against Spain on Wednesday evening.

Chiesa, who is valued at £63million on football database Transfermarkt, was linked with a move to the Blues over the summer transfer window, with Sports Illustrated reporting that the west London club had an offer turned down for his services.

As well as this, the Italy international also wanted to stay in Turin, where he has flourished over the past 12 months or so.

It’s been a relatively slow start to the season for the 23-year-old this time around, though, with just the two goals to his name in all competitions so far this term for Juventus.

However, Chiesa is still an immense talent and continues to show it on the international stage with the reigning European Championships winners Italy.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri recently spoke about the Italian forward and claimed that his future could see him become more of a central striker, rather than on the right wing, where he is usually played at the moment.

Allegri, when speaking last month, said this on Chiesa: “He is absolutely not at 100 per cent and this was the first real time he has played as a centre-forward.

“I told Federico my evaluation, which is that he can play as a centre-forward or a support striker.”

Rio Ferdinand is a huge fan of Chiesa and recently raved about his talents after the Juventus star scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 Champions League victory against Chelsea.

Ferdinand told BT Sport: “He’s a huge player and he’s been linked with a few clubs in England. I’m sure they’re thinking ‘why didn’t we get him?’

“He’s just a fantastic footballer. The intensity with which he plays with, we saw in the Euros he was the main goal threat for the Italians who went on to win the tournament.

“It is his pace, his drive. He is the one who is the threat, he is potent, he wants to run in behind.

“He is that modern-day striker who can play anywhere across the front line and he is as comfortable out wide as he is through the middle. He unnerves defenders with that pace, he is so direct.”
