Arsenal icon Ian Wright has urged Donny van de Beek to leave Manchester United.

Van de Beek joined United in the summer of 2020, signing from Dutch giants Ajax for a reported £35million.

However, the goalscoring midfielder has struggled for game time under Red Devils’ boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, finding himself behind the likes of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in the pecking order.

His limited minutes have resulted in him being linked with a move to a number of top European sides, including Arsenal – who have lacked goals from midfield since Aaron Ramsey departed for Juventus in the summer of 2019.

Now, Wright has urged the Dutch international to leave Old Trafford, claiming that his style of play doesn’t suit the Red Devils at all.

“The way that Ajax play with their possession football, the way he’s grown up in that Ajax academy, knowing how to make moves off of a team that are able to continue to hold the ball so he can make his moves”, Wright said.

“It’s totally different to how Man United would play. It’s baffling to me that he went to Man United because it’s not like they’re going to change the way they play for Donny van de Beek to play.

“The signing was wrong. At this stage, I’ve not seen him play three games on the spin for Man United. It’s gone wrong. He’s got to get out of there because it’s not going to work for him at Man United.

“He’s not going to get the opportunity to play and he should be playing because he’s a fantastic player.”

The 24-year-old’s current contract at Old Trafford is due to expire in the summer of 2025, leaving his current Transfermarkt value at £22.5million.
