Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe has enjoyed a productive start to the season.
The 21-year-old put in some fine performances for the Gunners despite poor results, before starring during their 3-1 win over local rivals Tottenham Hotspur last month.
Smith Rowe netted the opener before setting up club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who bagged the second goal of the game.
Now, the talented playmaker has continued his fine run of form, netting the only goal of the game as England’s Under-21s beat Andorra 1-0 on Monday night.
A number of Arsenal fans took to social media to voice their support for the Hale End academy graduate. Here is how a select few on Twitter reacted.
@SheikYub37 : “Kaka regen
@afc_nasti : “He has improved love to see it.”
@FanNketiah : “Better than Sancho.”
@AfcSeb1 : “Plenty more to come from the Croydon De Bruyne!”
@Dave_TheGooner : “He’s too good for that level, senior call up soon.”
@Friasimo : “He’ll be in the [England] first team soon.”
Smith Rowe has received plenty of admirers since establishing himself as a first-team regular last season.
The skilful midfielder started for the Gunners during their 3-1 win over Chelsea in December 2020, displaying his exceptional talent as he quickly became one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s teamsheet, registering four goals and eight assists across all competitions.
He then was handed the famous No.10 shirt over the summer as he penned a new long term contract with the club, a jersey previously worn by the likes of Mesut Ozil and Dennis Bergkamp.
Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher then picked him to win the Premier League’s young player of the season award this term.
“I’m a massive fan. I loved watching him last season and I think he’s been outstanding, even though Arsenal have made such a poor start to the season”, he told Sky Sports.
“He was arguably the best player on the pitch at Brentford, even some of his touches against Chelsea.
“The way he moves with the ball, very rarely do I see any player who can receive the ball on their back foot on both sides. I’m a huge fan of his.”
